2001 BMW 325Ci
I bought this car in Houston, TX (Smart Choice Northwest) in December of 2004. It is a great car that gets good gas mileage. I don't have any major modifications planned for it. But I do have a couple:
XM Radio
BMW M3 Spoiler
Wheels and Tires
Taillight Modification
Kuda Cell Phone Holder
BSW Subwoofer enclosure, (2) 10" 10.1D Infinity Perfect's
Hardwired Escort Passport 8500
XM Radio:
This car is lacking two things in the entertainment department. These are XM satellite radio and a CD changer. I bought a BlitzSafe XM/CD adapter to allow myself to install an XM Radio and an Alpine CD changer into the factory radio. This allows the music to be transferred through the factory wiring without any permanent installation. Below are pictures of the final installation.
BMW M3 Spoiler:
To add another little bit of style without going overboard I bought an aftermarket BMW M3 style spoiler (eBay again) and put it on after the car got repainted. It's small but stylish.
Wheels and Tires:
Recently I upgraded the wheels with a set of 18" HP Racing Evo's. The tires are Nankang (I think). I bought the set of wheels and tires from eBay for under $1000 shipped. They were delivered July 1st, but I didn't get to install them until The beginning of October (it was in the body shop for a month for hail damage repair). But here is the final result:
Taillights:
To make the car stand out a little bit and to get rid of the hideous orange turn signals on the tail lamps I decided to smoke the taillights. A product by the name of NightShades allows you to tint your plastic/glass lights a smoke/black color that still allows light output. Below are pictures:
Kuda Cell Phone Mount:
This was an easy install, and I will probably follow up with the Bluetooth kit once it is available for the 2001 E46 BMW. I don't have any pictures yet though.
BSW Subwoofer Enclosure and Subwoofers:
The Bevarian Soundwerks enclosure is one of the highest quality custom boxes for the E46 BMW. It produces great sound while taking up minimal space. Below is a picture of the unfinished installation.
This is what it will look like finished:
Hardwired Escort Passport 8500:
This is almost a necessity for anyone with a radar detector. The modification consists of wiring the radar detector to a switched power supply in the ceiling (like the sunroof power supply) so the radar detector will not be on when the car is turned off. Not only will you benefit from that, but the power cord goes into the ceiling, so there are no cords reaching down to the cigarette lighter! I will post pictures soon.
