Carefully slip the welt between the upper and the sole.

Using a straight awl, stab through the upper, welt and into the holes you pre-holed.

(Now, if you are paying attention, I am doing this BACKWARDS of modern shoe and boot making practice.  This is because it's what the pictures show as well as makes more sense if one is using a straight awl.

Keep moving the welt in as you stitch.
