Shoemaker pictures

Short note on copyright interpretation and the ownership of intellectual content.   Bridgeman v. Corel suggests that  a photograph of an out-of-copyright artwork is not itself sufficiently original to have copyright protection, and therefore leaves these items in a debatable position for open display in an educational website such as this.  On the other hand, these images are based on materials that are owned, and the ownership of that content should be respected.  I have not been able to track down all the owners of the original images depicted below to ask them for their permission to use these images, as would be polite.  I am trying to do so at this time.. It is not my intent to claim ownership where it isn't, nor to infringe on the rights of the owners.  If those owners would care to contact me, I will be happy to discuss this with them.
