Making a Horn Comb

  1. Start with flattened horn plates.
  2. Clean and smooth the plate (if you wait until later you'll risk breaking the teeth).
  3. Carefully cut between the teeth. Cut along the grain, and not against it. Don't use power tools for this (the power tools can set up a vibration that can snap off the teeth).
  4. "Grailing", grinding the ends of the teeth to a point.
  5. Polishing and Buffing.
