PLATE IV

CHAIN MAIL AND PLATE GLOVE

A SIMILAR glove to that given in the preceding plate (No. 3), but in this case it has lost its outer covering of leather. The gauntlet is strengthened by plates of steel,

6 inches long and riveted to the chain mail, giving great protection to the forearm against a slashing cut from a sword. This glove measures 15 inches from the tip of the middle linger to the bottom of the gauntlet, and is for the left hand.

In the collection of the Castle Museum, Norwich.
