Andrew Burstein

(Early American History)

 

PROFESSOR ANDREW BURSTEIN is a historian specializing in early America. He is co-holder of the Mary Frances Barnard chair in 19th-Century American History at the University of Tulsa (since 2000), and the author of six books:

Professor Burstein has worked as a historical consultant for several films. He appears in the Ken Burns production Thomas Jefferson, which first aired on PBS in 1997. His Sentimental Democracy was featured in a commentary in the pages of U.S. News and World Report (May 24, 1999). He has also appeared on C-SPAN on several occasions, including the American Presidents Series (from Jefferson's Monticello) in 1999, and in a "Booknotes" interview with Brian Lamb discussing America's Jubilee (April 15, 2001).  The Passions of Andrew Jackson was a main selection of the History Book Club, January 2003.
